Andre Schurrle on his way to Chelsea? | Chelsea FC 360

Andre Schurrle might become the latest edition to Chelsea's ever-growing contingent of creative players. A whole host of news papers have linked him to move to SW6 and according to German journalist Raphael Honigstein Andre Schurrle's transfer to Chelsea is 99.99% a done deal. However many of the reports have stated that KDB will go the other way if the transfer would go ahead.

The German international has been an instrumental figure in Bayer Leverkusen's attack and he's certainly attracted the attention of many top clubs scattered across Europe. He seems to be on popular demand in England with the likes of Spurs and Liverpool fighting for his signature.

The 22 year-old started his professional career with German outfit FSV Mainz 05. interestingly he made his Bundesliga debut against his current team Bayer Leverkusen. From the first moment Mainz saw his introduction onto the football stage they acknowledged that they had a real talent on their hands, who could achieve great things. In all Andre made 66 appearances for Mainz netting on 20 occasions before sealing a move to Leverkusen in the Summer of 2011.

Schurrle was handed the honor of wearing his preferred number 9 shirt. Immediately he had in impact at Bayer netting on his début in the German Cup. Alternatively everything didnt go to plan and when the end of the season beckoned many people were doubting his abilities. Having only scored a total of six goals in the Bundesliga, pundits were criticising his inconsistency and many people didnt understand why he was playing as a winger instead of a forward. He made a name for himself as a forward at Mainz so it was no surprise that many people were baffled to see him out on the wing.

However this season has been an improvement. He's scored a total of twelve goals and he's bagged eight assists to his name. Without a shadow of a doubt his most memorable goal was athirty yard strike against Schalke 04. It also proved to be his best game in Leverkusen shirt, he scored 4 goals and made 3 assists. Certainly a fantastic stat.

It's not the first time that this rising star has been linked with a move to the blues. Back in may 2012 the most glorious month of our history Bayer Leverkusen's sporting director confirmed that Chelsea were interested in the striker.

"It's true. There was interest from England last year. It's obvious that clubs keep asking us about Andre,We are not letting go of him."

Obviously he didn't quake the switch to London purely because he had a hefty £23.5million price tag on his name. However he might make the move to the blues this summer, only time will tell. I can guarantee you there will be much more speculation as the business end of the season draws to a close. Hope you've enjoyed this article. KTBFFH!
