Obvious sign tennis is headed for a nose dive as a sport?

If this truly is the Golden age of tennis, as is near-unanimously been declared by pundits world over, shouldn't then the hype around it be just as sparkly and shiny? Is it?

Would CBS cutting off from a thrilling third set tie-break FINAL of a Masters 1000 event for ANYTHING be proof? How about doing it for some lame college basketball BS?

Does that point to US as the ONLY market trending that way? Or could it be just the catalyst to what's about to follow elsewhere? Doubling or quadrupling the prize money is not going to cut it. Heck, it may be just the sign to prove above - with potion called desperation - rather than point to prosperity and brighter future. Turkey Necks may finally be realizing that for the cash flow to continue they now HAVE to open their wallets - a little.

The recent bulletin released by US media outlets provide further proof: "If local Darts competition conflicts with tennis schedule, the broadcast will be slashed - until the tournament is over. However, if Snake & Ladder follows, tennis will be on delay - of two weeks".

Does that point to some Golden age? I mean, how often is it going to happen that so many top tier records will EVER be on the chopping block or crazy new ones will see new heights? That's like asking for likes of Federer and Nadal - again. And if that fails, sport fails? Isn't that the ONLY conclusion?
