ROSEVILLE (CBS13) a' Police arrested a man and wife Wednesday on suspicion of embezzling from the Roseville Youth Soccer company. Heather Stanford, the former treasurer for the corporation, and her husband, Christopher, both of Carmichael, are charged with obtaining more than $173,000. In November, firm officers informed Roseville police of their suspicions that the former treasurer stole an amazing amount of money from 2011 to 2012. Investigators found that Heather had used the organizationas debit card to get items for personal use, made cash withdrawals and written checks on the organizationas bill to her husband. The couple is being placed in the Placer County Jail on $173,000 bail. aItas a travesty that something similar to that could happen,a explained Mike Kirkpatrick, a Roseville Youth Soccer Coach. Kirkpatrick taught in the league for quite some time and states he didnat know Stanford, but knows the crime will eventually have a poor effect on the kids and league. aWe have to buy plenty of equipment on our own, and if those resources arenat there, thatas just more that we've to spend of our pocket and some coaches canat manage that and thatas just equipment the kids donta have,a said Kirkpatrick. Team coordinators say the robberies would not affect the 2013 period. Modification (4/19 ): An early on version of the story incorrectly described the alleged criminal activity by the Stanfords could significantly effect kids and instructors.
