A group of students from the Real Madrid Foundation inclusive football school had an unforgettable experience on the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium green. These young people practiced their penalty shots in the same place where their idols play and they were also advised and directed by Álvaro Arbeloa. The Real Madrid defender was photographed with the participants, signed autographs, and looked enchanted with the initiative: "It is a great and gratifying experience to see their happy faces and the look in their eyes, they can hardly believe it. The kids have had a very good time and the monitors say that some of them hardly slept because of the excitement. It's normal, because being out in this stadium is a dream for many people. The Foundation does a lot for society and the most needy people, and we can always collaborate."
This initiative falls within the project For real participation from infancy, the purpose of which is for children with an intellectual disability to be able to integrate step by step into the rest of the ordinary Real Madrid Foundation schools and for children with and without a disability to be able to enjoy the benefits of exercise together, improve their health and the quality of their lives.
The inclusive football and basketball schools, where boys and girls with an intellectual disability participate, are developed in collaboration of the Down Syndrome Foundation of Madrid and FEAPS Madrid in the sports facilities of Las Tablas and Mirasierra, with professional coaches particularly trained for this activity who have the support of specialized sports monitors.
