USC Football: Is Lane Kiffin out If Trojans Drop to UCLA, Notre Dame in 2013?

When USC lost to Notre Dame and UCLA this past year, head mentor Lane Kiffin's job security was regarded as in immediate danger. Kiffin escaped the white slip from USC running director Pat Haden. Some team changesa'defensive manager Monte Kiffin is out, and Clancy Pendergast is ina'have led to some speculation that when the security doesn't increase, Kiffin will likely be out of employment. Nevertheless the defense's performance isn't the litmus test for Kiffin's potential at USC. If USC's defense underachieves, yet the staff goes to a bowl then all is forgiven, isn't it? Kiffin's dark future comes from USC dropping to its two competing schools and failing woefully to secure a higher-tiered bowl berth. The past time USC lost to Notre Dame and UCLA in exactly the same time was in 1995. That has been over 17 years ago. It generally does not occur very often. So if Lane Kiffin were to repeat that feat this year? It would indicate initially in 19 years (1993-94 )Athat USC will have lost to Notre Dame and UCLA in back-to-back years. Could Kiffin be out at USC if he dropped to Notre Dame and UCLA again this season? Surprisingly, the solution is not any. If USC moves 10-2 in the regular time (with losses to Notre Dame and UCLA) conference loss is signified only one by that. That would oftimes be adequate to place USC in the conference title game as the South's winner. Already that's a marked improvement over last year's 7-6 season. And if the North champion is beaten by USC, that is a computerized cabin to the Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl is USC's goal each year, so having met that goal equals Kiffin's warm chair cooling right down to tepid. And he'll have achieved that purpose with only 69 scholarshipped people, barring any new prospects signing with USC this summer. That's impressive. But the dialogue changes if USC loses to UCLA and/or Notre Dame along with a few other schools. USC's November routine appears like this: at Oregon State, at Cal, Stanford, at Colorado, UCLA. Appearing out of that month with a record (assuming a to Stanford) will be a marked improvement in comparison to last year's 1-3 record. But Oregon State and UCLA are move games and Cala'under new head coach Sonny Dykesa'could provide USC's extra suits. Realistically, just Colorado is mostAlikely a win. Losing to UCLA in the last game of the regular time is not likely to sit well with Trojan supporters if you will find other conference failures. Neither can humiliating losses. USC plays at Hawaii, California State, Boston University, Utah State and at Illinois State in November. USC should go 5-0 with that standing. But coming off a 7-6 season, each of a sudden that agenda does not look as flexible. USC's secondary is suspect, and playing against a Chow offense (Hawaii) and an Raid offense (Washington State) equals stomach check always time for USC supporters. And what about Utah State? The Aggies beat Utah a year ago and offered Wisconsin suits before eventually dropping 16-14. Quarterback Chuckie Keeton is back and is on one or more notable 2013 Heisman watch list. You are able to depend on Utah State being thrilled to embarrass USC at the Coliseum. Kiffin should really be safe if USC loses to Notre Dame and UCLA but wins the Pac-12 South. His career will most certainly be secure if USC performs in the Rose Bowl. But Kiffin may also defeat equally Notre Dame and UCLA and nevertheless be job hunting by the end of the season if embarrassing losses are suffered by USC. If Haden does cut Kiffin loose at the end of this time he will have ignored an instructor who only had one full recruiting class (2011) to utilize. The last two sessions were reduced due to scholarship constraints caused by NCAA sanctions.AThe idea that Kiffin has not really been able to train with a full deck could be one of reasons why Haden has proclaimed his full support of Kiffin. This year marks Kiffin's last year training at USC.AAnd the four-year mark is usually when athletic owners take stock of a soccer program and decide whether or not a different course is justified. Haden is a former Trojan quarterback and knows how essential it's to beat Notre Dame and UCLA. Two consecutive losses to the Irish and the Bruins might be enough for him to find for a fresh head coach. Except USC is playing in Pasadena on Jan. 1.
