Newcastle United defender Ryan Taylor has flown to the US in an attempt to salvage his career after a persistent knee injury has kept the defender out of action since August of last year.
Taylor has had a torrid time of late, enduring consistent problems with a knee-ligament injury that has brang the defender's career to a halt. Taylor has had knee-ligament surgery once already this season, but Magpies manager Alan Pardew has revealed there has been a major setback in his recovery, that has required the defender to have more surgery.
Newcastle have also revealed that Taylor could miss all of next season as he attempts to fully recover from the injury.
However, Newcastle United will be confident that Taylor is in good hands in America. The former U21 international will be meeting with Dr Richard Steadman, a renown American surgeon that saved the careers of Michael Owen and Alan Shearer when they were playing for Newcastle.
The dead-ball specialist has made a poultry three first-team appearances this season due to the injury, but the defender seemed in a upbeat mood following his trip to Denver.
Taylor tweeted on Tuesday night: "All ready for my flight to Denver tomorrow. Loads asking if I am going to see Dr Steadman. I sure am.
Newcastle will hope that Taylor will be back in the first team as soon as possible, after the club have struggled at the wrong end of the table all season.
