Southampton 0 West Bromwich 3: Watch video highlights from St Mary's - Daily Mail

IAN STAFFORD: It was supposed to be a gentle, end-of-season meeting between two of the Barclays Premier League's surprise packages, both enjoying relative mid-table security this season.

West Bromwich were good value for their unexpectedly comfortable win at St Mary's and would have won by even more if Romelu Lukaku had converted more than one of his clear chances to score.

But there could be few complaints from the 31,946 crowd with the red card flurry from Madley, in charge of his first ever Premier League game at 27, which makes him the top flight's youngest referee.

The first two came together in the 70th minute, just three minutes after Lukaku had scored Albion's long overdue second goal.

Gaston Ramirez had only been on the pitch for 25 minutes, replacing Jack Cork at half -time, when he was hounded by a chasing Shane Long and responded with an elbow to the face.
