Simon Mignolet watched by Manchester United and Arsenal - The Sun

Manchester United and Arsenal are both keeping tabs on the Sunderland keeper, who has enjoyed 12 months of superb form.

He will receive the North-East Football Writers' Association's Player of the Year this weekend, beating Newcastle duo Hatem Ben Arfa and shotstopper Tim Krul into second and third.

Mignolet, 24, has emerged as one of the best young keepers in the Premier League and is battling to be Belgium's No 1 with Chelsea's on-loan Atletico Madrid ace Thibaut Courtois.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is understood to be in the market for a keeper and Mignolet produced a series of stunning stops in the Gunners' 1-0 win at the Stadium of Light this month.
